13th December, 1848.

With reference to my Despatches

No. 89 of the 15th and 30th ultimo, Nos 96 and 98,

respectively, I have now the honor to enclose a further

memorandum on the subject of the concluding paragraph of the first mentioned Despatch.

The present Memorandum shows, as already stated, that 130 lots of land have reverted to Government. In my former

Despatch I stated that at that time the annual

rent derivable from these lands in lieu of quit-rent amounted to £15,699.

I am now fully satisfied that 49 of these lots of land, giving a nominal rental of £2,142.5, were entirely
